Pretty Kitty Katie

Pretty Kitty Katie

Time for another Ludum Dare post! April 15-18 was Ludum Dare, a 48-hour game development competition. This time the theme was “shapeshift.” I stepped outside my wheelhouse quite a bit and made a game in Unity. Needless to say, it is not very good, but it’s at least playable and I’m super pleased with the character sprites.

Katie is the prettiest kitty with the prettiest babies! Protect her babies from the ghosts by chasing them away with the arrow keys. Press space to shift into ‘rabid’ mode. You can play it here if you are bored enough.

Tools used (besides tons of coffee):
Code: Unity (C#)
Art: Aseprite & Photoshop
Music: Milkytracker

I get to make a ton of fun graphics at Nestiny, with a lot of happy smiling people and kids and puppy dogs and stuff like that. Nestiny is a free site for homebuyers to learn all the ins and outs of the complicated homebuying process, so I created all these vignettes with that in mind. Because of the fast turnaround too, the graphics are all light and simple, channeling minimalism and paper cut-outs whenever possible. The lightness keeps them looking friendly, so people don’t get overwhelmed reading articles about credit scores, appraisals, home inspections, and tons of other topics on Nestiny. If you’re looking to buy a home, you should definitely check it out and sign up!
